RIVERS SECTION

 

Report on 2009 ITFFA Rivers National.
 
The 2009 ITFFA Rivers National was fished on the Annalee River Cavan

on Saturday July 4th with a full entry of 20 rods.

 

This match was hosted by the Cavan and Bunoe clubs and there was

excellent fishing on the day.

 A total of 286 fish were caught and of course returned live to the river.
 
Winner of the 2009 National was Nicky Moore (Nth Kildare) with a

perfect 4 placings.

Nicky caught 38 fish over the four sessions - a truly great performance

 on the day.

Congratulation to Nicky. Brian Russell (Dromore) was second,

Peter Doherty (Clane) was third,

 Damien Walshe (Mallow) was fourth,

Joe Winders (Nth. Kildare) was fifth and Saen Bowen (Mallow) was sixth.
 
The ITFFA would like to thank the officers and members of the host

clubs for their help and assistance in running the match, all the controllers

 for giving up their day,

 Vinnie Hughes and Albert Berry for marking out the beats on Friday evening,

 Mary for her help

 with the scoring and anyone who helped in any way.

Rivers National

The ITFFA Rivers National was fished on the River Liffey at Newbridge on Saturday July 5th. There was a full compliment of 20 rods and despite the very heavy rains it was a good fishing day. The winner was Nicky Moore from the North Kildare club and he along with Sean Bowen (Mallow), Damien Walsh (Mallow ) and Joe Quinn (Lough Conn/Cullin) qualify to fish for Ireland in the 2009 IFFA Rivers International. John Higgins, who was the top Irish rod in the 2008 International fished in Scotland, will join them on the team. Brian Russell is named as reserve.
